Research and Development

Product development represents the lifeblood of any business within the consumer electronics sector, and as such, this is an essential aspect of Armour Group’s strategic business plan. It spends in excess of three per cent of revenue each year identifying, researching and applying new technologies, and at any one time, the group has more than 30 projects underway to develop truly world-class products from concept through to the market.

Armour Group’s Concept Design Centre (CDC) was opened in 2006 to create an internal think tank to support the existing divisional research and development functions. Working in close cooperation with the Armour Home and Armour Auto development teams, CDC is tasked with investigating emerging technologies, forecasting market demand and boosting the future product pipeline with cutting-edge idea generation.

This innovative approach is designed to ensure that Armour Group remains at the forefront of new technology development within the home and in-car communication and entertainment markets. In particular, it strives to create industry-leading products that are superior in terms of design, functionality and performance, and can be brought to market in the quickest and most efficient manner.

To date, CDC has been heavily involved in the launch of iO, a range of in-car Bluetooth audio streaming devices, and creating core technology platforms for the development of next generation network music and media players.

Armour Group also works with leading technology partners to supplement its in-house knowledge, and is currently cooperating with industry experts in fields such as Bluetooth and wireless transmission.
